BUS AND TRANSPORTATION RULES

A. Bus Rules

       The Department of Education recommends that each parish adopt the following
        rules for riding the school buses:
     
              1. The driver should select a safe stopping point, even
    though pupils may have to walk a distance.
    (If traveling a multi-lane road, always load on
    right outside lane.)
 

2.

The driver is in full charge of the bus and the pupils.
    Pupils will obey the driver cheerfully and promptly.
 

3.

Pupils will obey and respect the order of monitors
    or patrols on duty.
 

4.

Pupils will occupy the space designated for them
    by the driver.
 

5.

Pupils will be on time; the bus cannot wait for
    those who are not on time.
 

6.

Pupils will observe the following:
    a. Never stand in the road while waiting for the bus.
    b. Clean their feet before entering the bus.
    c. Avoid spitting on the floor of the bus.
        Anyone so doing should be reported to the principal.
    d. Do not throw waster paper or other rubbish on the
        floor of the bus or out the window.
    e. Do not mark or otherwise deface the bus.
    f. Do not start for school when sick or any other
        member of the family has a contagious disease.
    g. Avoid unnecessary conversation with the driver
        and remain quiet enough not to distract the driver.
    h. Abstain from the use of tobacco and profane language.
    i. Get on or off the bus or change seats in the bus
       only when it is not in motion.
       Follow the driver's instruction.
    j. Have written permission and be authorized by
       the principal to get off at any stop other than normal.
    k. Respect persons whom they pass on the route.
    1. Report to the driver at once any damages to the bus.
    m. Walk on the left side of the road, facing traffic.
    n. Do not stand when a seat is available.
    o. Do not extend head, arms, or other objects out
       of windows or doors.
    p. Do not use emergency door except in the case of
         an emergency.
    q. Do not eat or drink on the bus.
    r. Alcohol, drugs, pets, glass objects, weapons,
       and objects too large to be held in your lap will  not
       be permitted on the bus.
 

7.

Pupils who must cross the road after unloading from
    he bus should pass in front of the bus and not behind it.
    The driver should see that the way is clear before
    the child is permitted to cross the road.
 

8.

Should any pupil persist in violating any of these
    regulations, it will be the duty of the driver to
    notify the principal. Written notice of the action of
    the principal will be furnished to the  parent.

  • B. Transportation Rules:

     

    1.

    Students who provide their own transportation
        may not arrive on school campus until 7:55.
     

    2.

    Students will be required to leave school in the
        afternoon by the same method of transportation
        used to arrive at school. Any changes in a student's
        method of transportation in leaving campus will require
        written permission from a parent or guardian and must
        be approved by the principal or principal designee.
     

    3.

    Students who come to or leave from school in
        automobiles must be dropped off and picked up in
        front of the office.
     

    4.

    Students who walk or drive to school must have
        consent of the principal and written parental permission.
